Mad Ferret At Eden Festival 2017

We had an amazing time at Eden Festival 2017! Here’s us before our set enjoying a cheeky beer outside Rabbie’s Tavern

The Mad Ferret Band confirmed to play Eden Festival 2017

More exciting news on the Mad Ferret front – confirmation for a set at Eden Festival 2017! Kicking off a busy weekend in Dumfriesshire at the Rabbie’s Tavern Stage, Mad Ferret will be joining a sensational line-up, including Elephant Sessions, Heron Valley and many more.

Stephan Scott, stage manager for the Rabbie’s Tavern stage, said, “I’m absolutely delighted to have Mad Ferret on board for Eden.”

“I caught them at the Mull Music Festival a couple of years ago and was blown away by them. You’d think there was a 4 or five piece band on stage. Their stage camaraderie is as good as any out there, but the passion they play and sing with, together with being outrageously good at their instruments is what makes it for me.”

Scott describes Rabbie’s Tavern as a “rootsy earthy Burns inspired watering hole”.

“We’ve had the best of upcoming Scottish traditional, folk and blues inspired music. Our crowd love a good knee’s up and can’t wait for Mad Ferret to bring their show to our stage!

Sandy from Mad Ferret commented, “We’ve been wanting to play Eden Festival for a few years now but always had other gigs on. Thankfully this year we can make it for the Thursday Night.”

“We got a great set time as well; 11.30pm, so everyone should be well in the swing of it! Can’t wait to show the folks there what we can do with a guitar, mandolin and wooden box!

Acts across other stages include Gogol Bordello, Alabama 3, Have Mercy Las Vegas, Colonel Mustard And The Dijon 5, and no less than Mr Motivator himself!

And so it looks to be a ‘richt guid knees-up’! Eden Festival takes place 8-11th June 2017, just outside Moffat on the stunning Raehills meadows. Ticket tiers 1-3 are already sold out, so apply quickly if you wish to join the ferrets.

Mad Ferret Announced at Lindisfarne Festival 2017

Lindisfarne Festival 2017 The Mad Ferret Band

Lindisfarne Festival 2017 The Mad Ferret Band

Mad Ferret are incredibly excited to announce they are performing at Lindisfarne Festival 2017

The festival takes place between Thursday 31st August and Sunday 3rd September on a farm just south of Berwick-Upon-Tweed.

Lindisfarne Festival will feature other fantastic acts such as The View, The Fratellis, Huey Morgan, Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5, and many more.

The festival was was born out of the desire to create something special for the North East. Lindisfarne Festival came to life in early September 2015, when a 2000 strong crowd decended onto the glorious fields at Beal Farm to experience a weekend like no other.

As an event, the 2016 festival could not have gone much better – with amazing reviews from both our festival-goers and the media rolling in by the masses. The festival was also nominated for Best Small Festival, Best Toilets and the Grass Roots Award in the 2016 UK Festival Awards.

2016 saw over 60 music acts take to the stages across the weekend – and this year you can expect even more music as well as an even bigger lineup of comedy, workshops & wellbeing activities.

The Mad Ferret Band Sunday Social Open Mic

The Mad Ferret Band Sunday Social Open Mic - The Venue, Perth

The Mad Ferret Band Sunday Social Open Mic – The Venue, Perth

After six years of fantastic music, the Mad Ferret Band Sunday Social is moving to a new Perth venue.

Perth, Scotland. 15/01/17

For six years renown local folk group, The Mad Ferret Band, have been leading a progressive open mic called The Sunday Social. It’s received high acclaim from musicians and audiences alike for the unique collaborative nature of the day, and boasts performances from many internationally touring artists.

As of Sunday 15th January the weekly event will be moving from its current location in The Twa Tams, to The Venue (36 St John’s St, Perth).

Chris Woods from The Mad Ferret Band said, “We just love to play music! The Sunday Social has been an amazing experience to lead. We get a fantastic mix of musicians and styles – for me, it’s what Sunday’s are all about!”

Chris continued, “The new year gives us a chance to shake things up and spread the love. The new central venue will draw a wider audience and musician pool whilst keeping the same vibe we previously had.”

Chris’ band mate, Sandy Stirton, added, “We’re very excited about the change of venue, we’ve got the chance to expand on the current format and draw in more people. Ask anyone who’s been to the Sunday Social and they’ll talk to you about the wealth of talent, and how it’s the only place to be on a Sunday!”
“The Venue (36 St John’s St.) has risen to the challenge of hosting the open mic. The owner has embraced the ethos and format which characterises the Sunday Social, and we’re stoked to get a chance to expand on our previous ideas.”
“They’ve also got a fantastic drinks selection- 250 malts, 200 gins, 100+ rums, 80 wines…. Plus a 10% drinks discount, and free stovies for attendees. Beast!”

The day is regularly attended by a mixture of both local and touring bands and musicians. The variety of genres and amount of session musicians involved has lead to countless innovative performances over the years, sometimes with a 15-piece band!

The Sunday Social is held every Sunday, 3:30-7:30pm, in its new location, The Venue (36 St John’s St, Perth).
